Spaghetti Night!!

I had to post these pictures! We had spaghetti for dinner a few nights ago and it was the first time we let Sam have spaghetti sauce. He absolutely went to town. He ate way more than Owen and that is saying something because spaghetti is Owen's favorite!

At the end of our meal, Owen said "Mom you make the best noodles!" Two little boys eating their dinner without any help...amazing! I actually ate warm food!

Happy Easter....a little late!

I loved Easter as a child but I look forward to it even more now that we have two little boys to share it with. I love to see their excitement and I'm not sure who enjoys the activities more, me or the kids!!
My parents came over Saturday and colored eggs with us. Owen was pretty into the whole process this year. He loved to color "O for Owen"on them before he put them in the dye.

Sam just wanted to squeeze the eggs and make a mess. That's our Sam for you!

I inherited my enthusiasm for Easter from my mom. I think she was excited to buy the grand kids their Easter outfits long before they were born. We go every year and have our grown-up "egg hunt" attempting to find something similar for both of my boys! Thanks Mom & Dad!

Owen was pretty proud of the haul he made at the egg hunt. He even shared his loot with Sam who was happy just to have two plastic eggs to bang together! My Grandma was able to be with us for Easter dinner. She has Alzheimer's and we were so grateful that she was surprisingly cognizant the whole afternoon. She remembered my boys and did so well with all the chaos that in sues with all of us around on holidays. I am so glad that we got to spend time with her on one of her "good days." She walked up and down the hall with Sam and helped Owen with what Grandmas do best- sugaring them up!
Okay so there is a story about this picture of my mom. As my cousins would agree, part of my mom's living legacy is the instruction of painting your lips with Robin Eggs. She does this every time she eats them and probably will until the end of her days. Now, to Brad's dismay, this festive practice has been passed to our sons!

We had a wonderful Easter and put our boys to bed in a sugar induced coma Sunday night. We woke to the awful noise of Owen short of breath and coughing with croup. We finally got him back to bed and he woke up a short time later coughing so hard that we heard the worst possible noise a child can make in the middle of the night and he promptly lost his hard earned candy all over our bed. It still amazes me that kids will run past a bathroom just to bring it directly to you! We took him to the doctor Monday morning and it turns out that it is just a cold and his asthma rearing it's ugly head again. It has been a long few days around here, hence the delay in my posting. I think we have rounded the corner at this point. Having kids around definitely livens things up a bit!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday so I thought I would take a second to tell him how much we love and appreciate him. My Dad is my hero. He is the hardest working, most honest man and I am so grateful for his example in my life and now in the lives of my children. He would do anything for our boys and they adore their Pop-pop. He has the best sense of humor (I say this because it is so much like mine!) No matter how old I am, I will always be a daddy's girl.
Happy Birthday Dad!!! You're the best!!!
We love you!!!

Happy Birthday Charlie!!

Today is the fifth birthday of our dear dog Charlie. (We actually remember his birthday every year. However, this picture and Owen's happy birthday song, are the extent of the festivities. We do have limits.) You can see how thrilled he is about wearing his little birthday hat! He really is a good little dog. Our boys love him and he puts up with all of their wrestling surprisingly well. The poor dog has yet to retaliate in any way. He was my favorite Mother's Day present ever. I don't know if Brad will ever be able to top this little gift. Happy Birthday Charlie!

Down on the farm...

Over the weekend we went with my parents to what my kids call "Pop-pop's farm" in Bear Lake. It could very well be Owen's favorite place in the whole world. Even though we have been not-so-patiently waiting for Spring this year, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy the snow one more time. We took the boys to a field across from my parents which has a great sleding hill and yes, it was snowing! We got quite a workout hauling the kids back up the hill! The snow was frozen over on the top but every few steps, it would break through and we'd sink in well above our knees and the drifts were above our waists. Owen pulled Pop-pop on the tube too! Sam and Daddy ready to head down the hill! His little pom-poms on his hat bounced the whole way down.

Sam was done by this point and was much happier in the truck with Grandma Cindy Price. (Why call my mom by her full name you might ask? From the time Owen could talk, he called her Grandma Cindy Price and it all came out so quickly, it could almost pass as one syllable! Sam, however, just calls her Ge-ge.)
After sleding, we played in the snow out in the yard. Sam ate so much snow! This was the first time we put him outside like this and he loved crawling around the yard.

We finished the afternoon with hot chocolate and extra marshmallows, just the way Owen likes it!

It was one of the best weekends we've had all winter! We had so much fun and I'm sure we'll remember it fondly when we are sweating to death at the 4th of July parade this summer!

Thanks Mom & Dad!!!

Diet Coke is for Mommies!

A true Auernig question....

At lunch todayOwen was watching me pour myself a ice cold Diet Coke and asked "Mommy when I'm as big as you can I drink lots of Diet Coke too?" Yikes!!! I guess that means its really time to cut back!

Happy Birthday Sam!

We celebrated Sam's first birthday over the past weekend and I can't believe how fast the past year has flown by! Sam is such a blessing in our life. He is such a happy, playful, incredibly busy little boy. Here is a glimpse of the past year in the life of little Sam.

Saturday morning we took the boys to Build-a-Bear for Sam's big day. We really had a good time watching them make their "buddies." Owen made a Shrek and Sam appropiately made a monkey.

Later that night we had the fam over to see Sam attack his cake, which didn't go quite as planned. Due to our Build -A-Bear outing, the boys didn't have the best of naps that day. By the time the party started Sam was nearly ready for bed.
Poor Sam!! Once he had dinner, he started to enjoy the party a little more :) Owen did a wonderful job fufilling his big brother-opens-the-little-brothers-presents duties. He had almost as much fun as on his own birthday!!
Sam was suprisingly hesitant with his cake. He is normally an awesome eater so we expected him to really go for it. With a little help from Brad & I, he eventually dug in.

Sam loves his Pop-pop and Ge-ge!

By the time Sam had his bath, he was all partied out! He fell asleep during storytime and Owen snuggled him and kissed his head. He didn't even budge! It was one of those mom moments you live for.

Happy Birthday Sammy!! We love you & are so glad you're ours!!
